Not as much relief....

So....I thought everything was just fine until Sunday when the bleeding got pretty heavy. I called the on-call doctor and was told to go to bed right away. He told me if I'd been at least 25 weeks along then they'd have sent me to the hospital, but since I wasn't then I just needed to get off my feet and call if the bleeding got really bad. The doctor was so sweet, he actually called me later in the night to make sure I was okay. Anyways, after a very long and sleepless night, I went into the doctor first thing this morning to get another ultrasound. It turns out that I have placenta previa. Which means that my placenta is partially covering my cervix, which is causing the bleeding. I still get to go out to Texas for Katie's wedding and hopefully I'll be able to go on the cruise (I didn't dare ask, but I will on Friday). But, I have to stay off my feet as much as possible because if I start bleeding a lot I could hemoraghe and it could kill me and the baby. Kinda scary, huh? I am just relieved that the baby is fine and for the most part I have control over the situation. Just knowing what is going on brings peace of mind. Anyways, I'm sure all will be fine.

Melissa, I found this on a site I used to use all of the time in nursing school. I hope this gives you a little more piece of mind over the situation.

"If the health professional has identified a placenta previa or low-lying placenta before the 20th week of pregnancy, chances are good that it will resolve on its own. About 90% of placenta previa cases diagnosed before the 20th week resolve on their own by the end of the pregnancy. As the lower uterus grows, the position of the placenta can change in relation to the cervix so that by the end of the pregnancy, the placenta no longer blocks the cervix."

Thanks Beth. I've actually read tons on it and I do feel better. But, it was still scary and very unexpected since I've had such uneventful pregnancies in the past. I'm sure it will go away, but until then...here's to a never-ending period!! LOL.:)

This baby just wants to come with a bang! I'm sure Cory will help you take it easy. I also had placenta previa with one of mine and it moved so there were no other complication. I'll pray the same happens for you.

Oh, I wish I lived next door to you, and I would bring you yummy dinners every night & of course dessert! :) It's always kind of scary bringing these little ones into the world, but you are doing an amazing job. I read something recently in the Ensign that talked about how we need to rely more on Christ's atonement in our every day living, I am trying really hard to use that now, especially with just the little things, like if Hallie is crying & I can't get to her because Jackson is needing to be held, or something else, I just think "I need help, will you comfort her for a minute" and it is amazing, because Hallie or the situation is calm long enough for me to get done what I needed to. I think the same for you... Heavenly Father will help you with your girls as you are on bed rest. You are such a huge example to me, and I admire you so much! Good luck with things! love ya

I am so glad that you will still be able to come to Texas but make sure to take it easy!! From what it sounds like, there is a good chance of it getting resolved on its own so hopefully that is the case. We will keep you in our prayers! Can't wait to see you next week!
