Beginning and Ending With Two

The other day, Cory and I took a trip to the grocery store with all of our children. It is not something we do quite as often as we used to, but that is because things get out of control rather quickly. Our older girls tell us everything that we need to buy and why. Then we have Hailey who wants to run around the store, get in the cart, get out of the cart, put everything on the shelf into the cart, etc. Then there is sweet little Makayla who is usually an angel in the store, but not this time. Needless to say, by the time we got back to our van, we had four unhappy children. As Cory and I wrestled the little ones into their car seats we turned and looked at each other. As our eyes met and our wordless conversation took place, we both started laughing. It seems like we've been parents forever, but it also feels like just yesterday it was only me and him. I love being a mother but I also look forward everyday to those precious hours (sometimes minutes) when the girls are all asleep and it is just the two of us. I love and cherish those moments. Someday it will just be the two of us once again....a dinner for two, a movie for two. It seems so strange to think about life without kids, all around me, and as much as I'll miss them and worry about them, I'm SO grateful to know that I have all those years to spend with my very best friend.

Love that you could laugh in the end. :) Have you heard that song by Darius Rucker-"It won't be like this for long"? It won't so you have to laugh through it.
